King TuT is DEAD!

King Tut exhibit is in Houston, Ryan and I really wanted to go see it. Ryan went to King Ramsey when he was little and remembered it being AWESOME and there being A LOT of gold. The two things I was hoping to see were his golden coffin and his golden mask, which neither one where there. They had someone elses stuff there, but it just didn't have that grand affect that I was expecting. BUT, the best part about the whole thing was CASSIDY! She was not that excited to be in a museum and read about the history. We kept telling her that we are going to see King Tut, but first we are going to look at some other things first. Well that answer works for only so long. Cassidy kept saying she wanted to go see King Tut. Well, I finally realized that she wanted to see a real person. So I told her that King Tut is dead and we went ahead of all the other "stuff" and we looked at King Tuts bones, well, fake bones. Then Cassidy goes running up to Ryan and Declares, " DAD, KING TUT IS DEAD!"

Snowball fight, Texas style / New years eve

Today we had a snowball fight, Texas style, with some members in our ward. We got a pair of pantyhose and filled it with flour and tie a knot. It is also great if you wear dark colors so you can see when you are hit by the flour. A group picture of us nice and clean.

.The not so clean crew, the girls had a fun time and yes all three of my girls ended up crying because they were in the mix with the big kids, but we still had a good time

New Years Eve Party

This year, since we were not traveling, we went over to some friends. We did some fireworks, ate food, played and talked with friends. What a great way to bring in the new year.

Hot Springs National Park

On December 27, the Tuesday after Christmas, we made our way up to Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas. Before we even left the drive way the Windshield on Ryan's Truck cracked ALL the way across, then about 2 hours later the tire on the camper got a flat. GOOD TIME! But look at this picture, I Love when me kids sleep in the car, they look so cute and because it doesn't happen very often.

This was a cute little town with these bath houses going down one side of the street. One of the bath house was turned into a museum. We were hoping to go into one of the bath houses to swim, but you had to be 10 years or older, So we were all bummed when we couldn't go in . ( the water was 140 degrees)

The next two pictures where taken in the mens shower room.

There were many fountains and ponds around town to feel the HOT water from the springs.

Can you see the steam coming up off the water? Our family (Ryan and I) tried to see how long we could keep our hands in the water, 10 sec. was about the max. (remember the water is 140 degrees)

After going through the museum and walking down town, we drove up to the Mountain Tower and went to the tippy top. Which Ryan and I found out that Sadie is AFRAID of heights. On the way up the road was narrow and windy. Then she didn't look out at the view once we got to the top. (notice Vanessa is holding her in FRONT of her to get a picture.) Talk about DRAMA!

After lunch we went for a hike. There is a trail from the camp ground to town. It was about 3 miles round trip. But going to town was UP hill and I thought Cassidy was NEVER going to make it. She cried, complained and lost her stretched tower penny, not a good hike up. But on the way back to camp it was a lot BETTER, plus Ryan and the girls sang100 root beers on the wall, which helped pass the time and made Cassidy giggle.

On Thursday morning before we headed back home, we went for one more hike up to Goat Rock.

Today is the last day of school before winter break, and it was full of parties.
Vanessa and Sadie had their parties at the same time, but I made it to both.

After Vanessa and Sadie's parties we went home, had lunch then headed to another party.
Cassidy was so EXCITED when I told her that her sisters where going to go to her school for her party.

Gingerbread houses

This year we up graded our gingerbread houses. A friend of mine had some extra gingerbread dough, so I snatched it up and made my first attempt of real gingerbread houses and not graham cracker houses. They turned out great and the girls loved to decorate them.

Cassidy has been so excited for her program. She tells me every day what her part is and when they practiced that day. She also thinks it is funny that boys are Angels. As you can tell she is an Angel and she (and the other Angels ) said " Don't be afraid, we have good news"

5th grade winter program

Every year in December the 5th graders do a a Winter program ( sing)
This year they have a new music teacher and she started a 5th grade choir, which Vanessa did not hesitate to join. So the people in red are the choir members and in the white are the rest of the 5th graders. Vanessa had so much fun learning these fun songs. They were also able to go the Berry Center and do a few songs at the health convention, and after this performance they were invite to perform at the Berry Center again at the district principal meeting.

Cassidy is such a ham, she makes me laugh every day.

She has such an imagination. Today we were watching the little Einsteins, it was about these puppet who are in a play. Well after the show Cassidy said she wanted to make puppets. She already had cut up some paper ready to make her puppets.( They were paper dolls with tutus.)

Cheer season is officially over. Both Sadie and Vanessa had their team parties.
Sadie had her party at Huskys. They had cake and handed out trophys.
Vanessa's party was at La Hacienda and she got a school shirt and a blanket with her name on it. Vanessa is not completly done yet, the football team took 3rd place so they are going to the Berry center for the super bowl to receive their trophys.

Vanessa went to the Berry Center to receive her 3rd place trophy.
Just Vanessa and I went since it was at 8:00 p.m and COLD. Once we got there we found the rest of the cheerleaders sat down, the next thing I know, they took off and I was left all alone the rest of the game. I guess I am now entering the teenage years where they would rather be with friends than me. :)

Turkey Trot

For the past few years the girls and I run in the neighbor hood turkey trot. For fun and to break the boredom when schools out we also make shirts for the run. The last two years we wore these shirts. This year we changed our name a little. Give people something to smile at while they run.

They changed the course this year, instead of 2 miles they had a 3 mile or a 5 mile. Vanessa and Sadie went ahead of me and did all 3 miles. This is the first year I did not bring a stroller with me. Cassidy did GREAT. We ran most of it, then we had to set goals of when to start and stop running. Towards the end we ended crossing over the bridge and cutting off about a 1/2 mile. While we were running Cassdiy kept asking me if she was doing good and if dad would be proud of her, so she had me take a picture of her running so she could show dad she did run. Ryan was off with the boys from our church to play a little flag football.

This year our dear friends the Garnetts moved to Trinidad and we miss them dearly. After 6 years it is weird not having Thanksgiving dinner with them and we did not want to be alone. So we had The Hyde family over and will hopefully be a yearly thing.

Have you ever had a time when you popped you child's bubble of what they thought of you? Well, I had one of those moments with Sadie. I have a place mat that I have had for a while, and have thought for a while that I could make it out of wood. Well I finally did. While I was painting it Sadie came over to see what I was doing, she was telling me it was cute and I was doing a good job. Then she looked over and saw the place mat, she gasped and said" YOU COPY CAT!"

Feast fit for a kid

Today is Cassidy's Thanksgiving Feast at school. They made these cute Thanksgiving turkeys and tee pees for their Feast. What did they have for their Feast? Chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese , fruit and cookies. What more could a kid ask for. Cassidy LOVED it.

Cheer off!

Cheering is a new and foreign world to me. Today we are at cheer off. Sadie's age group was the second group to compete, but of course we had to be there early enough to doll them up. They all got a tattoo on their cheek, black nail polish on one hand and gold on the other, glitter sprayed in their hair and of course gold eye shadow. Then it was competition time. Their were 16 teams in Sadie's age group. First they all do a cheer, no longer than 3 minutes and no help from parents or coaches. Then they all do their dance, same rules.

Sadie's team did not place for cheer, But they got 3rd place for dance! They did a great job. (especially since the dance was changed several time.)

Vanessa's age group did not perform until later in the afternoon.
There were only 8 teams in Vanessa's age group.

They did a great job, but did not place in either category.

Junk be gone

Have you ever thought that you have alot of "junk" in your house? Well I do! I have been dejunking my house for the last 6 month for our community garge sale today. It feels good to get it out of my house. While getting ready for the garge sale I was going through some boxes in the garge and found some baby clothes that I have been wondering where they were for the past 6 years. I also found another box that had gifts form our wedding, that I can now use. I guess I should dejunk more often, who now what you will find. :)

Castle upgrade!

A few days after doing the first "castle " we found this new box. It was big enough to make a door and couple of windows. Cassidy and I spent ALL day decorating her Castle. We had a great day!

This morning while I was getting ready, Cassdiy was watching T.V. She kept talking about making a castle so this is our version of a castle with windows.

For a few days Cassidy has been talking about painting seashells like a rainbow, taking pictures of it and then send them to her friends. Oh, and don't forget the sparkles!

Then what would be a painting day without painting your hands and arms?

Cassidy lost her FIRST tooth!

Cassidy's tooth has been loose for awhile, but today I saw it bleeding a little, so we played with it ALL afternoon until it came out. She was so excited, BUT not excited about the tooth fairy. At first she put her tooth under her pillow, then started asking a million questions about the tooth fairy. How does she come in the house? What does she look like? How will she get my tooth? And many more questions, So we finally got her tooth and put it in a pillow case with a pocket and put it at the foot of the bed ON the floor and she was finally O.K with that.

She is my first to question or be scared of the tooth fairy, I was rather unprepared, good thing Vanessa was there to help me.

Now that Cassidy is 5 ( and can do everything now) It's bike riding time. Cassidy did great for her first time. After going down the street a few times I had her try keeping her balance while going down the drive way. She would get so excited when she kept her balance for a few sec.

Cassidy got this cute little pumpkin from her pre-school and she wanted to paint it as soon as she got home.

Since it is Halloween we need decorations. So Cassidy cut and colored paper and then we hung it on the wall while listening to Halloween music!

On Saturday while I was listening to general conference I was making this pumpkin out of broken glass.
The girls saw me do it and wanted to do one as well, so we all went to the store and picked out a frame for their picture. While at the store Cassidy managed to drop the glass out of the picture frame while still holding the frame, I know I have talented children, good thing we really didn't need the glass.

Last year Vanessa and Sadie did drill team and LOVED it, but this year the CFSA no longer offers drill team. So, drum roll please................. Yes, we have entered into the world of CHEER LEADING!

Today we were having no pre-school blues. So we needed to get out of the house, but where? Our community pool is closed, we went shopping yesterday. Then I remembered about splash pads. There is one not to far from us, so we packed our lunch and off we went. Cassidy loved it.

Pre -school is finally here. Cassdiy is sooo excited for school. She is going to a different one than she went to last year. I thought she would have a hard time changing, but once we went to meet the teacher she was ready to go.

One last trip

On Friday, the last Friday before school starts, we went to San Antonio for one last summer trip. We went to six flags. The crowds were not bad until we went into the water park, then it got bad, but I don't blame them, it was HOT! That night we went to our hotel, which was once a prison, and once again went swimming.

On Saturday we went to the Alamo, for some reason Cassidy has never been, if so she was a baby. On our way home we did a little shopping at Kohl's and Cabela's. Then we went to an Astro's baseball game. We saw an infield home run that night , pretty cool.

Have I ever mentioned that I LOVE and miss the mountains? Well, I DO! But lucky me, my brother and his family went camping while I was there, so we went up for the day.
The kids and I had a blast, they played in the water, "fished", painted toe nails, colored and just played in the dirt.

Painting Rocks

Every time we come to grandma's house we paint rocks and if we don't, someone will remind grandma that we haven't done it yet. Here are my girls and some of their cousins.

Here are the finished projects. We have butterflies, turtles, lady bugs, bees, smiley faces, a fish fossil and a slug bug car.

Famous Preston Rodeo ( parade and carnival)

The kids are out side having a picnic. Because they can, because it is NOT a million degrees outside and no matter what the natives say, it is NOT humid! (We are in Idaho not Texas remember?)

Some of the many things I love about Visiting family are:
1. Seeing family
2. MOUNTAINS
3. going to the Preston Parade and festivities
Each year the town I grew up in has a Rodeo. Along with that are side walk sales, parade and a carnival for three days! Here we are on the last night waiting for the parade to start with bags ready for when the candy starts flying.

After the parade we headed over to the rodeo grounds and chowed down on some Rodeo Burgers Mmmmmm.
Then took the kiddos over to the carnival for some fun.

Most of my pictures are of Cassidy because the big kids took off with their older cousin and did their own thing. Do I have kids big enough to do their thing?

Choo Choo! I Drove the Train!

Ryan's dad works for IPP and works at the train yard in Spring Ville. On our way up to visit my parents we stopped off at grandpa's work. While we were there we were able to not only ride the train but drive it. The engineer was great! Vanessa was the first one to hop in the drivers seat.

We tried to get Sadie to drive the train, but she was NOT going to do it,then I was asked if I wanted to do it, well who could pass that up?

After pleading, begging, bribing and gilt tripping, we finally got Sadie to take the drivers seat.
How often can you tell someone that you got to drive a train.

Splish, Splash'n at The Rez

After all that hiking what is the best way to spend the next day? At the Rez with cousins!

Bryce Canyon

One of the other thing that Ryan wanted to do while we were in Utah was go the Bryce Canyon. I went when I was a teenager, but I guess I forgot what Bryce Canyon looked like, because it was breath taking when I first saw it. I was gorgeous!

Ryan's parents and niece and nephew came with us. The first day we got there we walked around the rim of the Canyon. It was hot and the kids were not happy about walking, but it was so Pretty.

After dinner we went for another hike up to a river.

Ryan is such a boy! Once we got to the river he was like a caged animal trying to find the best way to get a crossed the river.
He finally decided to scoot a crossed the wet, mossy log. ( I took the picture to late) Once a crossed he hiked up to this arch and jumped down to the other side and met back up with us on the trail.

Who can go to a National park and not get there picture at the sign?

During the night and half the morning it rained. So we took our time in the morning and went to a JR. ranger program for the kids. Then watched a movie about the park and then the Kids got their Junior Ranger badges! After we had lunch we went for a hike down into the canyon. The first part of the hike was wet and muddy,Vanessa was sliding everywhere and going really slow, but Cassidy thought that was so cool to walk in the mud that she was going really fast. But, No wipe outs!
The weather was nice a cool for our hike. Compared to yesterday, the kids did great! No whining, instead they all wanted to go back and walk in the mud.

Fool Creek Peek

One of the things that Ryan wanted to do while we were in Leamington was climb to the top of Fool Creek Peek.
It was quite a climb from 6,000 ft to 9,600 in 3.5 miles. It was quite a trip for Vanessa (well all of us). Not bad for a bunch of people that live at sea level

Some of the family was not here the night before, so we did more fireworks for them, yay us! ( Remember Texas didn't get to do any this year for the 4th , thank goodness for the 24th.)

Sadie and Cassidy crashed on the way to the airport, our flight left at 8:40pm
We had a busy day of packing and saying good bye to some dear friends who are moving.
Ryan sat with the girls on the airplane and I sat in first class, my first time. Ryan was bumped up to first class and graciuosly let me sit there. What a great guy!

On our first day, we played with cousins all day and went horse back riding.

I love horse riding, but can I tell you that it is really hard to have a horse gallop on you when your feet don't reach the stirrups. :)

Grandma did a scavenger hunt for the kids and we told them to go inside while we got it ready. This is how we found them all. Patiently waiting.

Today for Vanessa's birthday she wanted to go minature golfing.
Vanessa and Sadie took off and I stayed with Cassidy while she did her thing.

My brother and his family from Idaho came to visit us for a week. So we took them to see the gators. I was worried that we wouldn't see any since it was June and hot. They say if you are comfortable out side, they are comfortable, and when you are hot, they are hot and tend to stay hidden in the water. But, because of the drought we are having it is messing up nature and causing stress on the animals, this trip was by far the best trip. We saw over 60 alligators and MAN they were active!

This was the first one we saw, it was sitting under the dock.

Some of these pictures my sister in law took. I love the pictures she took of the birds. I am use to seeing them, and never thought to take a picture of them in this environment.

Ever see an Alligator catch and eat a fish? We did, well kind of. We were watching this Alligator for awhile then turned to walk away, then we heard a BIG splash,we turned around and saw this alligator chomp down on this fish.
My sister in law took the about picture ,catching the fish. I took the picture below, swallowing it.

These banana spiders still creep me out.

As we were walking along the trail there was a volunteer, we stopped to talk to him and then this alligator lifted up his head and the volunteer told us he was about to do a head slap to warn off other Alligators to leave his territory.

So cool!

Beach Day

When by brother and his family came to visit the one thing that they wanted to do was go to the beach. So we rented a beach house and stayed in Galveston for three days. The first day we went to the beach and played there all day long.

On the 2nd day in Galveston we went to schlitterbahn
Ryan, Sadie,Tayzia,Vanessa,Me,Tyona,Tylee,Tayson,Cassidy,MaRee and Trent

On the 3rd day we were going to go back to the beach, but it started raining, O.K. it started down pouring. But a little rain is not going to stop us, most of us. We drove to were the big ships come in and man that wind was strong.

Then we went to the nice beaches where you have to pay to drive on the beach and park, but since it was raining, no charge. Plus we didn't stay long. The wind was so strong the rain felt like it was raining hail. As we were walking to the water with blankets and towels drapped over us Ryan and I were walking with the faster (younger) group and they were running around like wild chickens yelling Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! One of those moments you wish you had your video camera

On our way home we stopped off at the Bass Pro Shop.

The crew all cleaned up. Thanks for visiting , We had a blast !

Yesterday Sadie said that she wanted to go fishing. Well Ryan took that envitation and today they went fishing. Like always Sadie catches the biggest fish and I seem to find the smallest fish in the pond

Today Cassidy, Ryan and I went to Academy for some fishing stuff and some how came home with this. Actually we have been looking for a water slide for awhile now and Cassidy happened to see this at the store and it was what we about the size and price that we were look at. So, once we got home and set it up the kids were on that thing the rest of the day. I think they liked it.

Vanessa and Sadie had their first piano recital and did great.

Sadie is so funny, on Tuesday when she went to piano practice she did not know her pieces very well, let alone have them memorized. So we told her she had to practice every day. Well by Saturday she had both pieces memorized and playing them very well. Look what can happen if you practice :)
